    Smoothjazz.com Review, 2007-06-19
We're very excited about this newcomer! With the tone and playability similar to Boney James or Mike Phillips, Marcus H. Mitchell is bringing saxy back on his new CD RR. This red-hot emerging artist is not only the star of this recording, he's also the executive producer as well as the CEO and President of 24th Music, a division of his MHM Entertainment Group (a multi-faceted entertainment company). Marcus says that his company is committed to creative music with substance. Exciting times for the 24-year-old... one might think that releasing a new CD would bring enough exhilaration, but apparently not for the young entrepreneur. His music industry dreams began while he was attending Crossland High School in Temple Hills, Maryland. Marcus received most of his business knowledge while working with Mathew Knowles (father of famous singer/songwriter/actress Beyonce Knowles). RR is the prodigy's 2nd solo release and promises to make an impressive impact at Smooth Jazz with the first single "Saturday Night," which is a hooky, feel-good smash hit. Jeff Lorber guests on this track adding his signature jazzmatazz to the piece. In the case of this project, RR stands for rest relaxation, but it could also mean righteous rhythm, `cuz it grooves. Tracks that stand out for us include the bouncin' "Diamond In The Ruff," the funkalicious "Groove Lounge," and the fresh "Outstanding" featuring the vocals of Tara Aldridge. Race and run (there's another RR) to your favorite music outlet to acquire this spirited new release. ~SANDY SHORE
