Renewed love, 2004-03-24
I knew this record, as an LP, back in the 70's, as a young teen. Always loved it. By now the LP is completely worn-out.brWhen I recently found it on CD I immediately bought it. Now, a grown-up, with about 1000 classical-only CD's I was afraid to be disappointed - but not. This is still one of the most beautiful records I have heard. The lyrics (now I understand them much better..) are good, though some hebrew versions of those songs are better, the tunes are excellent, the musical arrangements are superb, but above all - this is a complete "Opus" - not just ten excellent songs. An integral work of art, still wonderful after all those years. Recommended, wholeheartedly.

Inspired recording!, 2002-12-02
I bought the album after hearing the NYRRE at Kings Collegebrin 1970. The concert (and record) were truly unique to my brnaive sensibilities. The joy created from these robustbrsounds is evident on the face of anyone who hears them (notbrthe least of which are the symphonic musicians participatingbrin the their creation). Michael Kamen deserves all the brsuccess he has achieved through these interim years, and more.

A record of timeless value, 2002-06-12
I was prompted to write this review after having read a really negative presentation of this record, which has always been one of my favourite ones. This is a really wonderful work that evokes deep sentiments of melancholy, contemplation, even spirituality. And it is unique in aural colour and mood, very difficult to categorise and compare with anything else. All in all, I cannot see how one cannot but like it.

A magic spell, 2000-06-10
Music that one likes or not, it seems. I never liked classical, orchestral or symphonical (pop)music, but this one is the only exception. Great songs like Kemal, Dedication, N. Dame and Love Her have an invaluable strength and warmth, it's music for eternity. I never heard other music by the Ensemble, and I will not try other music of them, for it might break the spell.

For Old NYRRE Fan. . .This Is Pretty Bad, 2000-01-21
I got pretty excited when I saw this offering. Having loved their first two albums, I bought it without a second thought.pUnfortunately, there are only a couple of tunes on "Reflections" that sounded even remotely like the group. Instead, seems to want to let this Greek "composer" guide the direction of the music. And consequently sounds like a real bad soundtrack to a really bad foreign movie.pDo yourself a favor. . .buy something else. You won't get very much New York Rock Ensemble on this one.
