Very good work by Hallmark, 2008-12-03
Unknown to most viewers, this 4+ hour long show was made by Hallmark. Unlike Hallmark's more famous works such as Merlin, Helen of Troy, Gulliver's Travels, and the 10th Kingdom, this one was not an adaptation of a fairy tale, myth, children's book, or a remake of some other movie. Instead, this is a highly original synthesis of multiple works by H.G. Wells, such as The Time Machine and War of the Worlds. br / br /The story is told in flashback. An old H.G. Wells in retirement is approached by a lady working for the English government but posing as a journalist. She proceeds to ask him questions about his past. Each question is answered in a flashback by Wells. These flashback periods occur around the end of the 19th century, and each one involves something paranormal, fantastical or extraterrestrial. It is these components of the flashbacks that make the show part fantasy, and part science fiction. Each flashback also alludes to one of the books authored by the real H.G. Wells, many of which are mentioned in this movie. br / br /The overall pace of the movie is slow and deliberate, such that the fantasy / sci-fi parts of the story are not the central theme. Instead, it is the romance between Wells and his fictional love interest played by the beautiful Katy Carmichael. The theme music, and the realistic dialogue adds to the slow pace. My only complaint about the movie was the lack of English subtitles. The movie is set in England, so the accents are very thick, which makes it somewhat difficult for an American to understand some of the dialogue.

Very clever!, 2008-08-22
Simply put....buy this! It's clean, fun entertainment. I loved how the plots entertwined with H.G. Wells' real life....giving me a sense of how he might have gotten his Sci-Fi ideas. It's cleverly done....and the production is of high quality.

A bit better than expected, 2008-07-28
I bought this DVD for one reason, to see what Nicholas Rowe of Young Sherlock Holmes was up to. Being part of the RHI Movie Weekend club I wasn't expecting too much but this turned out to be okay. The special effects are a bit over rated but the historical costumes and settings are well done. In general this has the making of good family viewing, I reccomend parents watch first and decide if the creature in one story is too frightening for their children. br / br /For Nicholas Rowe fans this is reccomended as so little of his work makes it to America. He's even more charming and lovable than Holmes and there's a hint of a sense of humor. His best parts are in the first and last stories, you can fast forward through most of the movie and not miss anything.

A tad drawn out at times, but oveall a fine premise and really good acting. Ingenious attempt to give premise to Wells' stories.

Fantastic Biography Of A Fantastic Man., 2008-05-08
As a long-time reader of H.G.Wells, I have often wondered about the person himself. "The Infinite Worlds Of H.G.Wells", although dramatically treated for entertainment purposes, certainly illustrated the intrinsic genius of the man as well as his ability, in spite of his far-out writings, to be a total human being. From the point of view of the production itself, I found it excellent in every respect, both for the acting and the wealth of technicalities presented. Certainly, I value this DVD.
