Laws of Attraction, 2008-04-05
Unlike many others, I really enjoyed this quirky movie. Julianne Moore is the perfect choice to play the compulsive anal-retentive divorce attorney. Her mannerisms and body language fit so well with the character. Pierce Brosnan is always a great choice for a romantic lead, and this film was a good fit for him. Pierce and Julianne had real chemistry, and their on screen presence together was heart warming. Even though this is a classified as a comedy, I liked the combination of drama and comedy. br /

Physical beauty counts in films, and Brosnan and Moore br /are stunners. That said, Moore cannot play comedy, so br /Brosnan's repartee scenes with her are a complete waste. br /Not since "Yes, Giorgio" have I heard such stilted and br /witless dialogue, and these writers were not writing br /for an opera singer, but for movie stars, large-calibre br /movie stars. Noticing that Brosnan's production company, br /Irish Dreamtime, was a major player in this mess, we don't br /have the usual commercial interests to blame entirely. br /So,turn your video to no-sound,and enjoy the lovely Irish br /scenery, and the marvelous physicality of Brosnan. No one br /gets into a limo as he does in the last scene but one. br /The man has the build of a dancer, and is drop-dead elegant.

Fun and silly, 2007-10-02
Okay, on the whole I liked this film, because in the end it had a good message--that marriage is worth fighting for and that relationships aren't easy, but they are worth the effort. br / br /There is a pretty high cheese factor in this film...thanks to Julianne (e.g., the scene of escaping His office without getting caught was nuts, but fun, and then the secret cam shots--perfect). I didn't scream too much, but I did laugh a lot. br / br /What I didn't like--getting into a situation because you got so drunk one night that you didn't know what you were doing; I think this premise is over used and abused. So, I guess in the end it depends on what you value more: a good ending (get the film) or more responsible characters (couldn't get past the first act). br /

Really like Juilanne Moore but the story was so predictable. Some cute moments and occasional humor but I would not watch again....

ENTERTAINING EVERY TIME I WATCH IT!, 2007-05-29
Unlike many other viewers, I judge a movie strictly on its entertainment value, based on how I liked it, not on how it stands up to the technical merits of previous movies of similar gender or how it fits into any format of political correctness or whether it meets some current fad of society or on how the critics liked it. I can, and will, think for my self, and I'm very wary of those who don't. I get, and see, far too much crap in everyday life, and I am, therefore, more than 'sick and tired' of special interest productions designed to support some Hollywood click's cause. A production, Hollywood or otherwise, designed to misguide the audience by devious manipulation of facts, a ploy intended to influence the ignorant majority and idiots, regarding some special interest cause, is not my idea of entertainment. br / br /Therefore, I find this movie VERY ENTERTAINING EVERYTIME I WATCH IT! Isn't the ENJOYMENT FACTOR important too? I say, "Knock-off the BS and give me, and those like me, more movies like 'Laws of Attraction." br / br /[..] Isn't the primary purpose of a movie to entertain its audience? I say, "This movie does exactly that; it will entertain you and that it's worthy of its purchase price and is a good investment towards one's serach for a little enjoyment!" br / br /Why not purchase this DVD, sit back with a favoriate beverage to sip, relax a little, and enjoy this delightful romantic comedy? I can't guarantee that you will like it, but, I sincerely believe, that the odds highly favor you will. br /
