***** Jerry G. returns! Different Edition: Same Brilliant Album!, 2007-02-20
After a multi-year hiatus from recording with the Fort Apache Band (at their peak, one of the best working bands in jazz) Jerry G came back with an introspective and stripped-down work. br /Recording in New York and Madrid with Spanish musicians mostly unknown to jazz fans, he has produced one of the most compelling Flamenco/jazz fusions since Miles' "Sketches". He's absorbed Monk and Bird so thoroughly that their work has become just parts of an astonishing and unique vocabulary. br / br /I'd buy another whole collection of this music, immediately if/when it gets released, then I'd ask when the Gonzalez/Gonzalez/Berrios rhythm section was going to take a stab at the same work. br / br /

**** Flamenco Jazz Miles Davis style, 2007-01-17
I never listen to Jerry Gonzalez before purchasing this record. What captured my attention was the group's name, indicating an interesting fusion between jazz and the warm flamenco music. when played the CD it was clear from the first moment it'g going to be interesting. The combination between a Miles Davis style of playing the trumpet and the spanish flamenco is special. Along all the tunes on this CD, Jerry is showing a clear and well shaped character. He is not trying to impress with just virtuosity but with deep music and fantastic sensivity. He is developing his ideas within a very well marked style and arragment, like I said before, even Miles Davis would have liked it.
