** Voice Track Redone, 2007-11-27
My wife LOVES Carly Simon, and especially the Vineyard Concert from some 20 years ago. I taped this concert live off of HBO when it was aired originally, and we have almost worn the VHS tape out, playing it dozens of times. I bought this VHS tape as a backup, figuring my original would wear out sooner or later. br / br /Well, it's the same... almost. br / br /Any buyer should beware that the entire lead vocal track has been redone. To some, this may be an improvement; after all, the lead vocals are now absolutely perfect. But I like the energy from the original, and knowing that my tape was exactly how she sounded THAT NIGHT. And she sounded terrific - it really wasn't necessary to re-do the vocals. It kind of reduces the show to a lip-synching exercise. Maybe that makes me a purist. But a concert should stay a concert, in my opinion, with the original live vocals.

***** An amazing performance! A must have for a true Carly Simon fan!, 2007-01-17
When I found this DVD I had just finally found and purchased a Laser Disc version of this performance (an even rarer find!), but I thought well, if I'd bought the LD version after having only had the VHS version for so many years... Why not have the DVD too! Boy, am I glad I got it when I did from the Best Buy that I found it. Because it was the only one on the shelf and I've never again seen on on the shelf anywhere since then and that was in 2004 when it was a new release! I must have been a very limited release! But as sound and picture quality goes... It is even an improvement over the LD version much less the VHS version I'd nearly worn out over the years. The audio is very nicely done in 5.1 and is not overly done in the surrounds as many concert DVD's in 5.1. Very smooth and natural. The picture is soft and I think if I remember right the original HBO special was the same why so this was done as an effect to make the look. Plus the sun was setting and it may have has some effect on it as well. I also own a LD copy of Carly's live performance at New Yorks Grand Central Station which is an equally desireable to have. As of my writing this it has never been made available on DVD. I just ordered the "Carly Simon - A Moonlight Serenade On The Queen Mary 2" so I'll be egar to view it as soon as it arrives.

***** "Live From Lobsterville", 2007-01-14
The most sought after DVD of Carly's performances. A limited release in 2004 by Grandstand Entertainment. Very difficult to find. The most memorable performances Carly has done. If you can find it, BUY IT !!!

***** Wish I was there ... it must have been unbelievable ..., 2006-09-02
br /This must have been one heck of a concert to be at. Carly's having a blast - and sounding (and looking) great. I haven't been listening to much of her stuff lately, but when I went to find this DVD and discovered that it's now out of print (and as I soon found out, pretty rare), I had to get a copy. The search was worth it. br / br /Check out other reviews for the song listing. The video editing is good. There is a slight softness in the video which suits the content and location. It appears to have been shot in the evening, and that light is often naturally soft. Another reviewer wrote that the video was overly soft and grainy. I'm a very critical photographer, and it looks good to me. That same person also complained about the sound quality. I was amazed that with it being an outside concert, with an apparenly substantial breeze, that the sound was so good. Indeed, it's quite obvious that the event itself was a totally professional, top-notch concert production (for the couple hundred people actually there!). I think this was a special originally produced for HBO ... br / br /The DVD has some worthwhile extras, like a couple of more recent interviews with Carly about that concert. br / br /I'd consider myself a casual Carly fan (only really know the radio stuff) -- but now I need more Carly after seeing this video. Like I said, this video makes me wish I could go back almost 20 years and be there.

***** AWESOME!!!, 2006-06-06
I saw this years ago, and i have yet to buy it yet, br /i had it recorded on VHS when it hit HBO in the late br /80's. I do have one question for the viewers, once in br /awhile on VH-1 they will show Carly's song "Your so br /Vain" from the same setting, but in a rather different br /outfit, White blouse, and blue jeans. Is this now br /in the DVD format? That was a great performance! br /But i definitely give it 5 stars!!! great buy, but br /now that it is out of print, its a little bit harder br /to find, but definitely worth the price. br / br /-Very Pleased Carly Fan
