amazing movie about my neighborhood, 2007-01-05
the only reason why i bought this movie was beause i saw it in a recreation center in my neighborhood. i live in the same neighborhood the movie is set in, washington heights, ny! the movie is amazing! its about pulling through againgst the odds. which is something i am going through personally.

I'm so sorry but i did not like this one, 2004-11-20
I was very disappointed in this movie. The charecter was not someone I could relate to. He had wierd hair and piercings. You don't really see people walking around like that in the Heights. The only good thing I could say is that the acting as pretty good but this movie was not my taste. I do give props to any Dominican out there doing there thing, I'm not trying to hate on you. But I have to say I didn't like the movie at all.

Worth a look, 2004-03-09
This movie is worth a view. pTo sum it up, the main character, Eddie has dreams of illustrating comic books, and gets a shot at is, but he also has obligations to his father, and that is keeping him from focusing on his dreams. Being from a traditional family, you see how Eddie is forced to weigh both family and career obligations. I can't forget the scene of Eddie grudgingly changing the diaper of his injured father. He hates doing it, but he is loyal to his family, so he deals with it.pThe acting could have been better. I don't hold that against "Washington Heights" as it is an idie film from a young producer on a limited budget. The scenes of the Washington Heights neighborhood in New York are very vivid and accurate.

Tomas Milian puts in great performance, 2003-08-04
I really enjoyed this movie because its so realistic. It really shows typical hispanic "barrio" type areas. Tomas Milian was especially creative playing "Eddie". He is the most beloved and active local Bodega owner who gets shot and his whole life changes. His son Carlos has to take care of him. The interaction with Sean and his son is especially poignant as well. Overall I would recommend it to all hispanics and also to any others who want to see a good feature film.
