Not too shabby, 2005-12-29
While I will agree that this is not Luna, for which both Deaan Wareham and Britta Phillips are best known for, it is still an album that is both full and exciting. There are not only original pieces of music on this, but some unexpected covers. While it was initially started as a side-project to Luna for the duo, it has rightly taken the forefront of their respective music careers after the disbandment of Luna. Although some are not pleased with the deviation from the standard Luna album, this is a good accompanyment to their releases, if only for the close ties that Dean and Britta have to it.

agreed...this is not luna. but it's still awesome., 2005-01-13
thank you to the person who stated the obvious, "this is not LUNA." i'm glad someone else isn't expecting the same old from dean wareham. i'm glad he's doing something slightly different. i love luna, i love galaxie 500, but i also love all kinds of artists. do you really think dean is so limited that everything he puts out is going to sound the same? it's as if people aren't aware that most of these songs are covers. anyways, this album is amazing. his version of the song "moonshot" is up there with anything he's ever done, and it could be his finest hour. britta's voice is something you could fall in love with. i found myself surfing for images of her while listening to her. not in a pervy sense, but just to see who is making this joyous sound. she's more than a singer, she is a "chanteuse." "sultry" would be one way to describe her voice. "positively randy" would be another. the harmonies are beautiful and fans of mazzy star will dig this, but so will fans of serge gainsbourg. sure, the lyrics are a little trite at times, but his delivery makes them profound. they are simple, yet beautiful. i can picture this guy making great music for years to come. he seems to get better with age. though, judging by his recent appearance he may disappear completely if he doesn't put on some weight!

This is NOT a Luna Album, 2004-12-30
When I first heard Luna, I said, "This is not Galaxie 500...where is my Galaxie 500?" It took a while for me to adapt to the new feel of Luna, after realizing that I should evaluate Luna as Luna and not compare them to Galaxie. br / br /As is the same with Dean Britta's side project (now turned full time). It's not as round as a Luna album, but to me, that's exactly the point. br / br /So, if you're a bug Luna fan, don't go in expecting Luna, because it's not that. It's not that at all. It's another direction for Dean Wareham.

Not Luna, 2003-11-09
I love Luna, this is not luna. That is the main thing to remember. For me this was a BAD thing. It wasn't as complex, and it was too sappy. A disappointment.
