**** ONE COMPLETE SHOW, 2008-03-06
Let me try to explain, because, some of you don't seem to get it. This show was done in the Connecticut,Rhode Island area. The three volumes rally make up one show. For those who don't know, Harold Melvin's Bluenotes is the group that was with him until his death. They even bring out Sharon Paige to do a number. The Dramatics are the original group without one member who passed. The Chi lites are without Eugene Record. The Stylistics are without Russell Thompkins. And please let the Delfonics retire. But all in all it was a pretty good show. This review is for all three volumes. Can't give five stars because the performances are split up.

**** We will always have the 70's, 2005-10-16
One night sometime in 2005 I was surfing the channels and came upon another one of those great PBS Pattie Labelle specials (Old School Soul Party Live) and decided to purchase the DVD (By the way it was great) if you have the DVD Titled: Super Stars of Seventies Soul Live with Pattie as host (you can buy Super Stars on Amazon) the later is just as good if not better. As I was saying after seeing the Stylistics I wanted to hear more of the oldies. I decide to buy the 70's Soul Jam Volume one, two and three. Now, first I must say all three volumes are very good. Volume one is ok but two and three are smoking! The first volume I believe the singers were warming up for "A Long Winters Night", their voices were a little shaky at first but believe me after that "It's On". The Stylistics is great on all three volumes. One thing that must be understood is that all the groups that were around in the 70's as they get older their vocals must fade. None of us will be the same 30 year from now "But I am sorry these guys are". Ok, now with that being said, the groups are Stylistics, Dramatics, Blue notes, Major Harris, Cuba Gooding, Delfonics and the Chi-lites. The Chi-lites without Ed Record are not the same please do not buy the DVD's for the Chi-lites you will be making a mistake. If you ever get a chance in watch the PBS special Title: Super Stars of Seventies Soul Live. Ed Record is singing with the Chi-lites in that Special I believe that was his last day view with the group before he died (could be wrong) "What a Man with a Voice". As I end I will say these groups sound very good just as they did in the 70's take my word I was there weren't you.

*    Complete rip-off!!!, 2004-05-16
Warning! Avoid wasting your money on this garbage! Stylistics without Russell Thompkins, Chi-Lites without Eugene Record, Harold Melvin Blue Notes without Harold Melvin!!! Somebody should be sued for releasing such crap and so cleverly avoiding giving the customer these details anywhere on the outside cover. One only makes this horrible discovery after opening the DVD!

**   EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!!!, 2004-04-26
If you are a true fan of 70's Soul music, I would recommend avoiding this DVD. I had just watched a wonderful 70's Soul show on Maryland Public Television, and was hoping that this would be somewhat similar to that. I was really disappointed, to say the least! The sound quality is horrible, and the performances were pretty sub-standard, with the possible exception of the Stylistics. The Chi-lites totally destroy "Oh Girl." It was painful to watch this video! I would not recommend it to anyone!
