    Mildly entertaining, 2008-02-02
This CD was recommended to me on Amazon because of my purchases of The Locust, The Dillinger Escape Plan, An Albatross, and Daughters. So I expected some really fast and intense music. Upon my first listen of Pizza, I was pretty disappointed. It's not very fast aside from a few moments (none of which are Locust- or DEP-fast), its poppy moments are completely pointless, the drums sound quite dull, the synth work is tacky, and a lot of the screaming just sounds halfhearted. I wouldn't call it an emotional rollercoaster as another reviewer (who happens to be in the band) did. I guess the synth is supposed to make them "Nintendocore," but they really don't even achieve that very well. It sounds a little like a video game, but completely lacks any Nintendo feeling.

br /I listened to it about a dozen more times and it began to grow on me. I even found myself singing "P! I-Z-Z-A!" at one point around my friends. Its concise length probably helps: 50 minutes of this would get old quick. I never watched Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, so I wasn't necessarily excited to hear the TNMT theme song at the end. And having (almost) nothing to do with pizza, I think the album would be stronger without it. I just found it hard to get excited about this album. It's a neat concept, if you can call five songs that mention pizza a concept. It's a little fun to tell people I'm listening to "Horse the Band." But it won't even come close to touching your grindcore sweet tooth.

"Horse the Band" isn't going anywhere yet, 2007-05-07
I was a little late getting on this EP. It wasn't until recently that I started finding band's EPs to be worthwhile, so just little while ago I decided to pick up the Pizza EP.

br /When I first popped the disc in my CD player, I admit I thought to myself that Horse the Band have finally begun to get stale. Halfway through the first song, I realized how wrong I was!

br /Horse the Band have stayed true to their style, but this new EP is more experimental and crazier than ever. I have a feeling an EP like this will scare away those scene fans who have trouble admitting to the nerdy culture that surrounds Horse the Band, but for the rest of this this EP will not disappoint. It's only 5 songs, and about 20 minutes long, but not one song is bad. In fact, most of the songs on this EP are better than many of the songs on previous albums.

br /The best song of the album, I think, is forth track "Pizza NIF" for reasons other reviewers have mentioned earlier, but their cover of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles stands as the "Cutsman" or the "Birdo" of the album. Hopefully, this album is preview of the type of music to come from Horse the Band in the future.
