**** nice mix, 2008-12-03
If you've seent this movie and/or are into the manchester music scene or any kind of retro/punk/new wave this is a great cd for you. Most of the best songs and artists featured in this movie are present on this cd. It is worth mentioning that 'A Certain Ratio' is conspicuously absent after being featured and mentioned repeatedly in the film. I would've liked to have hear 1 or 2 of tracks by ACR here. br / Recommended!

***** Timeless, and faultless, 2008-02-25
Now it has to be said that anyone with any passing interest in the punk and post punk scene will already have these songs among their CD and/or vinyl collections (and good on them). And when watched in conjunction with the film, 24-hour party people the CD has are obvious ommissions (The Jam, Siouxsie and the Banshees to name but two). Nonetheless this Factory inspired collection is nonetheless magnificent, which just like the film can be enjoyed again and again. The Joy Division classics fit nicely alongside, the Buzzcocks, and of course the Happy Mondays. Rare treats also include Moby's impassioned version of JD's 'New Dawn Fades'. I loved it and will continue to do so, but I'm also a fan. Fans of this should also check out the 'Control' soundtrack or 'Technique' from New Order if they haven't done so already.

*    4/18 of Madchester, 2006-08-23
I saw the movie a few years back, enjoyed it, and recently bought the sound track.... What a disappointment! As I listened to the sound track, I realized yet again that Joy Division WAS Madchester and all the other tracks (with the possible exception of the New Order tracks) are just filler. The no-name bands are awful. Without Joy Division there would be no 24 Hour Party People worth remembering. So I wish I had bought a Joy Division album instead of this.

***** The CD With It All, 2005-04-27
This CD puts you in the thick of all that was good in Manchester late 70's to early 90's. Put it on and have a party.
