    A Beautiful Album, 2004-07-14
"In the h-wing, in isolation for a month, fighting cancer, this project began..." This quote from Kevin Hearn decbribes perfectly the mood of this album. It is, melancholy, calming, and at times depressing. A few songs, including Bonefight and Spider Arm, are upbeat and uplifting, but most on the album are slow and quiet, perfectly complementing Kevin's gentle voice. pMany people may find this album too monotonous and sullen, but I like to think of it as a thoughtful rememberance of a very hard time in life. Those, who have gone through an ordeal like Kevin, will greatly appreciate this show of strength through word and music.

    An Essential Recording, 2003-11-23
I've had this CD since it came out, but I hadn't really listened to it until now. I completely love Mothball Mint, Kevin Hearn's first album, so it wasn't the music. It was more a fear that, despite all the positive reviews, a record made right after a near-death experience would be too dark and depressing. Well, I'm an idiot. H-Wing is a beautiful piece of work. Every song is exquisite. I am grateful that he is still here and able to share his music with the rest of us. pThe next album, Night Light, should be out next year. Copies are selling now at BNL shows, and it lives up to the high standards set by Mothball Mint and H-Wing.

    "This Is the Best", 2001-11-27
This album gets my vote for best album of the year, hands down. The sheer power and artistry coming out of your speakers will absolutely amaze you. Kevin Hearn has gathered a remarkable group of musicians (Derek Orford, Chris Gartner, Bob Scott, and Martin Tielli), and together they have created what can only be called a listening experience. To listen to the entire album in one sitting is emotionally overwhelming and incredibly uplifting, as well as remarkably entertaining. When you come right down to it, this CD is a good listen, no matter what mood you're in. I couldn't even begin to pick a favorite track. Personally, H-Wing helped me to get through a very difficult first week in college, and I'm incredibly grateful to Kevin and Thin Buckle for sharing their talents.
