Editorial Review from Amazon.com:
The tender musical heart of this enchanted take on IThe Man Who Fell to Earth/I belongs to composer Edward Shearmur, who turns in a largely synthesized score where spare, delicate piano melodies often recall Thomas Newman's deft sense of space and dynamics. While the general musical ethos seems a throwback to the mid-'80s heyday of pioneering electronic scores by Vangelis and Tangerine Dream, contemporary technical advances have allowed Shearmur to impart an ethereal and distinctly organic aural patina to these cues. Though informed by his atmospheric session work with Pink Floyd (IThe Division Bell/I), Shearmur's IK-PAX/I score stands apart: quiet, mystically introspective music that seems as uncomplicated--and yet innately profound--as an autumn breeze. ***** This soundtrack is very cool., 2008-09-16
I really can't describe it much better than that. It most of the movie has a mix between a new-wave and classical approach, which I found enhanced the quality of a movie about a space alien (sort of) by making it a bit futuristic. br / br /The cool thing about this score is the fact that you can actually jog to it. The music is quite beautiful at some points, and yet it is still "jog-able". In contrast, I greatly enjoyed the score to "Big Fish", but I would never really consider working out with it. This music is pretty fast paced, and can easily fit a lot of situations. br / br /To be honest, I don't think the album is worth the twenty-something dollars that they sell it for when the DVD can be purchased at Wal-Mart for five dollars in the bargain bin. Something seems a bit eerie about that. br / br /Overall, a pretty incredible album, definitely worth a listen.

*    painfully inappropriate score, 2008-08-31
I am not one to describe any music as "bad", but this score was terrible for this film. It did not fit the film whatsoever, whether you are trying to convey the touching, sentimental side of the film's message, or the more appropriate science fiction aspect. The music might conceivably be enjoyable out of the context of the movie, if you really wanted to put on music that makes you forget music is on. br /I'm no film composer, and kind of just felt like being critical this evening, but I just watched the movie and felt the music detracted from the story and the mood.

***** The Best, 2007-12-24
Edward Shearmur is great. He is a young talented artist who has once again created a gem, a diamond this time. This is the best CD I have ever listened to. It's wonderful for removing yourself from your mind for a few minutes. I listen to it while driving on the highway and it's so relaxing, it has a sort of ambient techno-quality to it. It is also great to fall asleep to. If anyone likes Moby they would appreciate this soundtrack. br /This is similar to The Fog of War, where the movie would not have been as fantastically defined if it weren't for the life-changing soundtrack by Phillip Glass. From the start of this movie it was apparent that this soundtrack alone would make this movie memorable, and it did. br /Highly Recommended, to all.

***** A Real Gem........, 2006-12-06
As it plays in my computer for the 3rd time, I'm SOOOOO happy I bought it! br /When I saw the movie, I loved the music, and made a mental note to pick it up. It seems like everywhere I looked, the asking price was high...AND THERE'S A REASON FOR THAT!.....Uniquely wonderful and fresh!!!!!!

***** Work of Art, 2006-10-24
This is the best music I have ever heard, period. This may seem bold or arrogant to say, but I can honestly tell you I have heard nothing this profound. I have listened to thousands of songs throughout my lifetime, and this CD moves me the most. The coda at the end with its powerful notes and movements brings me to tears everytime I hear it. I dare to say this soundtrack, along with the movie has changed my life for the better. Give it a listen.
