An Industrial Metal-Killer of a CD, 2007-08-29
This entire cd (of which there are at least two compilations, about which I'll say something later) sounds like it was engineered using over-amped power tools wielded for very sadistic purposes. I first came to this after _The Last Command_ days. When I first heard _KFD_, I thought it was the most horribly, pneumatically-crafted, painful stuff I had ever heard and couldn't believe how badly the band had devolved. Now, however, I think _KFD_ is Blackie Lawless's most daring conception and W.A.S.P.'s most fully realized cd. Like he says in "Killahead," Blackie's out to prove that he's "the darkest motherf---r on the planet," and by the time he's grandstanding by asking, "Who's the one?", you're agreeing, that, yeah, it's him. Because this is nothing less than _Apocalypse Now_ on cd. The two first songs are absolute rockers, and the third is a dental-drill screech of a ballad. You don't get harder than a first song that says all you get from life is to "Kill F--k Die" and means it. "Take the Addiction" is Blackie's monomaniacal rage at his addiction being tougher than yours is; it is anger at whimps like you who can't face injected torture. And then he breaks down and admits that his soul is tortured to extremes. Then it's back into songs of all things "orgasamatic" and lethal and wicked and murderous. The cd is rounded out with "The Horror," a controlled, nearly soothing scare-fest of a postmodern pagan ritual of murder in which the sacrifice is begging you to "F-- me, kill me, drink my blood." Truly scary stuff. THE DIFFERENT COMPILATIONS: If you like _KFD_ as much as I do, I wouldn't want to miss out on the Japanese version that includes a hard-rocking song called "Tokyo's On Fire" that has one of the best guitar riffs (immediately after the chorus) that Chris Holmes has ever inspired and surprised W.A.S.P. fans with. But you'll have to buy the American edition, too, because the Japanese version takes out "Fetus" and "Little Death" (two excellent songs: "Fetus" for a biologically excruciating addition to the aura of the album, and "LD" just for absolute awesomeness) to add "Tokyo's On Fire." (It also says it has a bonus, "Wicked Love," but it's just the same as what's on the American addition. LAST NOTE: Don't believe for a minute that "Kill Your Pretty Face" and "U" (with the chorus "you f---ing suck") isn't Chris Holmes's and Blackie's loving words for Lita Ford. Somehow I think they are all too much for her. br /

Change, a very good thing!, 2007-06-29
W.A.S.P. has been known for a particular brand of heavy metal for years now. Fans and critics alike have come to know Blackie and the boys for providing this brand of metal for years. Heavy riffs, the occasional instrumental, and the extreme doses of heavy choruses with raw emotion! br / br /Enter k.F.D., a new brand with an entirely new direction! A raw and heavy, but industrial sound (with the likes of Nine Inch Nails.) Many fans who have complained about the staleness and predictability of W.A.S.P. begged for a change; then upon the release of K.F.D. they complain that it doesn't sound like W.A.S.P. With some people, there is no pleasing them. K.F.D. is dark, agressive, and full of unrelenting emotion that was harbored deep inside the minds and hearts of Blackie and the boys (particularly Chris Holmes.) Here is my track by track review of one of the hardest, deepest, and most unrelenting W.A.S.P. albums yet. br / br /1. K.F.D. - The title track to open the album. Right away the listener will notice a different sound. The heavy industrial sounds in the background might throw you for a loop at first. Blackie's vocals may also seem a bit drowned out at first as well, no worries! This is a perfect way to begin an album and to set the tone for what's to come. A hard-hitting song that just makes you pump your fist! 5/5 br / br /2. Take The Addiction - Fresh of the heels, this song follows with another dose of hard-hitting anger. A chorus that will have you screaming along, and just pure guitar work by Mr. Holmes himself! Another awesome song that shouldn't be overlooked. 5/5 br / br /3. My Tortured Eyes - This song seems to be about Blackie's break-up with his girlfriend at the time. Did they have a bad split? I don't know, but what I do know is that this song rocks! Not as downright dark and torturous as the first two songs, but awesome nonetheless. Might seem a bit crammed together with so much anger and angst all wrapped up into one song, but believe me its worth it! 4.5/5 br / br /4. Kill A Head - I didn't really care for this song the first few times I listened to it; after awhile however, it really grew on me. Dark song that has a rocking chorus! Like i said it may take awhile to like but it does fit! xcellent guitar work and drum solo's as well! 4/5 br / br /5. Kill Your Pretty Face - This is my personal favorite from this album! The majority of the song has Blackie singing pretty softly, almost inaudibly. Then, the chorus kicks in, and that's the best part! Along with the guitar work, Blackie and the boys pour every emotion they have into this song! I have never heard Blackie stretch his voice to the lengths it goes on this track; just pure brilliance! 5/5 br / br /6. Fetus - Not even a song, just a filler industrial track to lead into the next track. Still fits and flows nicely with the whole theme of the album, very dark and kind of creepy! 3.5/5 br / br /7. Little Death - Goes hand in hand with the previous track. I like this song as it remains dark and flows nicely together with the rest of the album. Awesome guitar work with heavy solo's throughout. may take a couple listens to really get into, but its not a track to underestimate. 4/5 br / br /8. U - Another awesome track that may be overlooked by many fans of the album. Awesome instrumental work on this one that shows the brilliance and seemless intergration of the band. Awesome track! 4.5/5 br / br /9. Wicked Love - This track also took me a couple listens to appreciate fully, but it took me by surprise. Again, the raw and genuine emotion put into these tracks is what makes it! Flows nicely and doesn't drag the album down at all. 4/5 br / br /10. The Horror - This is a pretty good song to end the album. From start to finish this album was dark, heavy, and filled with almost pure evil! A new side of the band is complete with the finale of the album and leaves you hoping for more in the future. 4.5/5 br / br /I gave this album five stars because I feel it truly deserves five stars. Blackie and the band decided to take a completely different approach on this album with the risk of upsetting and even losing some die-hard fans. Every band needs that album where they try something completely different and out of the ordinary; if it works grest, if not at least they tried. I appreciate this album for that alone, and it also shows how original the band can be. A truly awesome album that all fans of W.A.S.P. must own!

Great Album, 2005-10-10
Ive been a fan of W.A.S.P. for many years now and although their popularity is not what it used to be they continue to kick ass despite the many lineup changes. Blackie has always been a great vocalist and Chris Holmes a great player and things are the same on this album. br / br /Actualy things are very diferent too because the sound on this album is very diferent from other releases, but in my opinion thats a good thing. So much of a good thing that this is my favorate W.A.S.P. album The lyrics are very dark and very good especialy in songs like Little Death, My Tortured Eyes and Kill Your Pretty Face which are probably the best songs on the album too. br / br /Not all old school W.A.S.P. liked this when it was released because they might not have been expecting such a diferent sound but I think it just makes this album stand out more and keeps things fresh.

With the exception of the title track, this album kicks! blackie needs to write more like this. I really have not enjoyed all other wasp albums after this one, but this one, to date, is still killer!

This one is a "must buy"!, 2005-02-06
OK, after just finishing trashing Neon God II (don't waste your money on it), I thought I'd write a postive recommendation about my favorite WASP recording. This is different than the other WASP recordings, yes, but it is the one I still keep listening to the most. Anger, aggression, power- its all there. Very well done, sound is awesome! br / br /After this one, I'd go with Electric Circus...
