A fun family comedy., 2008-11-10
There comes a time in a man's life when everything seems to be going accordingly...you get that big promotion at work, you meet the woman of your dreams and you're finally ready to pop the big question...you buy the ring, have the kids in her daycare spell out "will you marry me" only to be interrupted by a phone call from her sister who just got engaged to Dr. Bob...but all isn't a total loss...you've just learnt that asking daddy's permission to marry his daughter is a step that is important in this family's circle...so it's time to meet the parents. br / br /The moment Greg Focker (Ben Stiller) arrives at the airport everything goes wrong...he is forced to check his luggage, he bought a rare flower to give to her parents, and he's a smoker. All minor issues until we meet Jack Byrnes (Robert De Niro) who plays the scrutinizing, over-protective father perfectly. Trying to win the approval of daddy, Greg relies on a few innocent white lies to aid him in earning the hand of the woman he loves...only to find out that daddy is an ex CIA agent trained in lie detection. The way these two actors play off each other is nothing short of hilarious. Every event in the movie goes awry for Focker and the lies he weaves to try and spin the situation into a positive light are classic. br / br /For instance: The toilet in the guest bedroom sticks and can't be flushed...one night Greg forgets the warning and flushes the toilet...the next day the backyard is filled with run-off from an over-flowed septic tank...Greg then proceeds to blame the cat, Jinxie, saying the cat must have flushed the toilet. How can the cat flush the toilet when it doesn't have thumbs? The entire movie goes back and forth like this producing one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time. With few swear words and even less innuendos, Meet The Parents is a fun family comedy that most will enjoy.

Love this movie, 2008-09-29
Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson are really good in this movie. Its funny and Robert DeNiro plays a great overbearing father.

What the Hell was this. Mums Champagne at the Oyster Bay Drug store. This is Long Island NY not Kansas Dorothy. Get Real just blew it for me.A NY Drug store selling Booze. Yeah, right next to the Sorghum seeds Hoss..

Pretty bad., 2008-09-02
Meet the Parents starring Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller is not that funny or original. Blythe Danner is pretty good in this but Teri Polo is one horrible actress, she's so lame and wooden. I have never been a Stiller fan but his chemistry with De Niro makes this movie not so dreadful. I don't why but I saw the sequel to this film a few years ago I enjoyed that one more than this. The jokes are somewhat crude but if you like those kind of comdies than this film is for you.

Decent film, 2008-08-31
I enjoy this film it's follow up "Meet the Fockers". Certainly NOT the best film ever made-far from it. Enjoyable. I am NOT a fan of Ben Stiller's. This is 1 of the 4 films I like where he is in a starring role. The other 2 "Night at the Museum" "There's Something About Mary" HE BASICALLY PLAYED THE SAME ROLE IN ALL 3 FILMS. A nobody reacting to things going on around him overreacting. br / br /I actually like the follow up film more than the original. Another negative of the original: Owen Wilson Only got to see him briefly in the 2cd film. br / br /Randy Newman's same old music-we've heard in films over the years they all sound the same. br / br /Good NOT GREAT extras on the DVD package. br / br /Hard to feel for Stiller's character in either film when his character lies all the time. br / br /The speeding to get back to Jack's (DeNiro's) house because of the Jinx? the cat lost bit. WHERE WAS THE NEEDED REACTION FROM THE OTHER CHARACTERS ABOUT GREG SPEEDING BEING UNSAFE?
