***** A Bluray Review, 2010-07-25
I am assuming everyone reading this is more than familiar with the story of "Halloween", John Carpenter's unintentional masterpiece of suspense, horror, and atmosphere. I say unintentional because the film was made by a twentysomething John Carpenter and producer Debra Hill originally titled "The Babysitter Murders." Made on a tiny budget, the movie became the highest grossing independent film of all time (up until recently) and agruably the most oft replicated movie until this day, generating sequels, remakes, and launching the careers of many actors (Jamie Lee Curtis, PJ Soles, among others) "Halloween" gets the royal treatment on Bluray with this very satisfying HD transfer. The 1080p HD master reveals unprecendented detail and repairs many of the "soft" apearing scenes with incredible detail and clarity. The colors pop and some shots even have a 3D presence such as those where Laurie is walking home from school surrounded by the tress lining the streets and the bright orange leaves on the ground. The sound is mixed in an Uncompressed PCM 5.1 with a Dolby Digital 5.1. While the film will never sound like "Terminator Salvation', it offers crystal clear ambient and rear channel effects, crisp dialogue, and the classic music theme has never sounded better or more chlling. This one is priced to own, and a must for fans!

***** Halloween will stand the test of time, 2010-07-20
Even though I prefer Halloween 2, this is a great classic that I will never get tired of. Even as time passes by, it will still be one of my favorite horror films. If you're a horror fan and you haven't seen this, you REALLY need to.

***** Halloween (1978), 2010-07-06
Halloween. This is one of those horror films, started on a very low budget, now is one of the biggest movie and film phenomenas ever. Having been remade, 7 sequels, thats pretty popular. br / br /But now, lets get into this story. br / br /The movie begins years back when Michael Myers was a kid, dressed up as a clown for Halloween. He violently murdered his sister, and has been screwed in the head ever since. His doctor, Dr. Loomis (Donald Pleasence) is on to him after he gets out of the institution. The main movie focuses around Laurie Strode (Jaime L. Curtis) who has to babysit a young boy named Tommy. Michael Myers tracks her down, and the night of Halloween really begins, changing the aspect of the holiay for most horror fans. br / br /This movie, as low budget as it is, does not show awhole lot of gore, but thats the golden part, the suspence, mystery, and imagination on how he can kill these people. br / br /I'm sure most people know that the actual mask for Michael Myers was a Shatner mask, spray-painted white. The mask works perfectly for the character of Michael Myers, because he has no face, blank face, no personality, just a violent soul if you will. The theme song is a big part of pop culture now, that piano/synth. If you hear that song you will instantly think of Halloween or Michael Myers. So the original Halloween is a giant recommendation for anyone who has not seen it yet, its way better than the new Rob Zombie version, which in my opinion sucked. br / br /

***** Best Horror Film Ever, 2010-06-26
It's amazing for only a small budget, this film still remains the top dog--- br / br /I do like the early Friday The 13th's, but Halloween will always be my favorite.
