Editorial Review from Product Description:
Jack Osborne's life changes forever the night men in masks break into his house, threaten Jack and his family, and ransack their home. Jack then discovers the reason these men have come into their lives-his father has been arrested for drug trafficking. Jack, his mother, and his sister are then forced to enter Witness Security Program. Jack becomes "Zach" and moves to Elko, Nevada, a town in the middle of nowhere. There he meets Sam, the strangest school custodian he has ever encountered, and Catalin, a girl who might make Zach's uprooting worth the trouble. But just as Zach finally begins to piece together a new life, he finds himself in danger again-and this time his actions could determine the fates of everyone he cares about.

For Kids Who Love Plot, 2008-08-25
Think living under the Witness Protection Plan sounds cool? Think again. Roland Smith's page-turner is about as close as you can get to a "sure thing" for kids who claim they don't like to read. From start to finish, the plot's the thing, and as long as you don't expect too much else from it, you will come away very pleased with this book.

br /Jack Osbourne's life is turned upside down when his pilot father lands in prison for helping a South American drug lord ship drugs. Along with his mother and sister, Jack must adopt a new identity (Zach Granger) and live in a new part of the country (Elko, Nevada). There he meets a girl (Catalin) he likes and a boy (Peter Short) he will regret meeting. Most important, he meets an unusual custodian named Sam Sebesta, who introduces him to the local Basque sheep herders (an interesting tangent that goes beyond the plot, though it's not developed much).

br /Kids will love the finish as the drug cartel goons hunt Zach and family down and eventually follow the trail to Nevada. Recommended for boys especially and suitable for all ages, from mid-elementary to 8th grade.

    Create Your Own Review, 2008-03-27
Zach P. review of Zach's Lie by Roland Smith, March 16, 2008.
br / Zach Granger is a kid who has to lie a lot, like about his name, which is really Jack Osborne, and about where he came from. His dad is in the DEA's custody for trafficking drugs for a drug lord. Jack and his mom and sister are put into the witness protection agency to keep them safe. Zach is having trouble with his new life, especially having to keep track of his lies, for he does not want to slip up. He feels weird about lying to his new girlfriend, Catalin also. Zach's new school custodian reveals that he is an x spy. When Alanzo Aznar's men come, Sam and Zach piece together a trap to catch them. This is a suspenseful book with many twists and turns and a surprise ending. I would recommend this book to anyone that likes suspense novels
